12/19/2024: 4.5 out of 5 - This review is long overdue, but I've been coming here for some time now. When I first came to Grand Fir Brewing, I came mainly for the beer. I enjoyed the sense of adventure that they go on when it comes to the different kinds of beer that is available. After awhile, I started to venture into their foods, and it's pretty tasty for a brewpub. My favorites tend to be the cheeseburger and the smoked chicken wings. Both very flavorful. Occasionally, the wings can be overdone but, let's be honest, after a few more of the Espresso Stouts and or Coconut Stouts, it is all good. The service and the ambiance, for the most part, is good to go. It can get loud in there from time to time, but it's a local brewpub. It should be anticipated. All-in-all, this is obviously a local favorite, which I technically am not a local. I come out of my way thirty minutes south of Grand Fir Brewing to enjoy the Stouts, food, and the local scenery. So, when you are in the area or want to make your way there, I would definitely suggest trying Grand Fir Brewing once and decide for yourself. Enjoy!

I like to try all the local breweries, and I was super impressed by Grand Fir. It was a Sunday afternoon, and every level of the place was hopping. The environment itself was more upscale than some, and very comfortable. I sat at the upstairs bar and worked on my laptop while enjoying a schwarzbier and a hazy IPA. I also had the carrot appetizer, and man, that was far better than it needed to be. Great flavor, very unique. I will be back.

Went here recently and exceeded my expectations. A cute 2 level setup which can get crowded, but seating was relatively easy to find especially when the weather is nice enough to open outdoor seating. Service is excellent, with the bartenders quick to open up a second line when the queue starts to get long. A strong selection of brews ranging from the the standard IPAs and Hazys of the PacNW but also having choices for those who love a good stout, porter, etc. The Old Bay wings were truly remarkable, and reminded me of some of the best Id get when living back in Baltimore.

Checked out this local brewery in Burnside. Grand Fir is one of the many around here. It has a welcoming interior with plenty of room with more seating upstairs. Has lots of beers on tap with some interesting flavors. There's also food including both meaty and vegetarian options such as burgers and more. Best things are the beers of course. It's got quite a few. There's a good variety of styles. A few are pretty interesting in the descriptions. It's about $8 a pint. That's kind of a lot, even for a craft brewery, but these are good though. Best one we had was the Heartwood. This is an export stout. It's brewed with bakers chocolate, espresso, and graham. The food shouldn't be overlooked. It's about $18 for a burger and fries. The Veggie Burger has an Impossible patty, along with American cheese which I left off, and the basic toppings including lettuce and tomatoes. Has plenty of hearty and light beers. It's located on SE Stark. The food menu has burgers that are okay for both meat eaters and vegetarians.

Steve and I were both very impressed with the beer we got from Grand Fir Brewing! I got the Trail Bloom, a Czech style Pilsner that I found extremely refreshing on the hot summer day we were encountering in Portland. Flavor features with this pilsner are floral, crisp, biscuity, sweet and effervescent. An extremy well made beer! I also really liked the woody looking atmosphere upstairs and had to purchase the Andy Warhol inspired banana art t shirt in which Grand Fir's version is an image of a Banana Slug. Loved this brewery and it would be thrilling to come back!

I'm impressed. This brewery has a handsome and intentional appearance with a tasteful outdoor theme. Sometimes when a brewery has so much focus on aesthetics, they can lose focus on other things, like the quality of the beer. That is NOT the case here! Not only is their beer excellent, their FOOD is better than most non-breweries! I sampled numerous lagers and they were all phenominally crisp and quenching. I also had their session IPA which was delightfully bright and fruity without having that chalky mouthfeel that almost all IPAs seem to have these days. I would love to see what they can do with a Cold IPA. It was hard to chose just one item from the food menu, but I ended up going with the chicken sandwich and it was one of the best ones I've ever had. So glad the Buckman/Belmont area has a new(ish) brewery, especially after the passing of one of my favorites (Coalition, RIP).

Super cool spot! This brewery on the newer side and I finally got the chance to visit. It's an interesting layout in a historic building. You enter from street level into seating and you have to go upstairs to get to the bar. There is wheelchair accessible access from the hallway off 14th St up the hill a little bit. The brewery equipment is right there, which is always cool to see. The decor is vaguely foresty to fit the name. Staff is friendly and gave me a taste of the two beers I was considering, I ended up liking the one I chose. I love the big mug style glasses they serve the beer in. I also really loved the banana slug coasters, random I know. I've heard good things about the food and would like to come back to try it!

Tried a new spot across town; I am always curious about a new brewery. The Pale Ale was served ice cold and tasted insanely good. Will be back JUST for the Pale Ale! Food was good, I especially enjoyed the radicchio salad which had savory crumbles on top. I also liked the spicy tortilla chips however the hummus wasn't my favorite. It tasted unseasoned, which is a bit odd because hummus is such a great canvas for flavors like roasted garlic, lemon, sumac, or maybe smoked paprika. Seems like a missed opportunity. I started following these folks on Instagram and will watch for delicious specials down the line. Very comfortable and airy place for a beer and lunch, I am glad I went out of my way to try this business. PS: Totally dope music set list. I was shazaming everything lol :-)
